SALT LAKE CITY (November. 14, 2016) — Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a charity raising funds and awareness for 170 member children’s hospitals, today brings supporters the ability to donate with Apple Pay, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to donate that’s fast and convenient.

The addition of Apple Pay on CMNHospitals.org addresses a need to improve a low donor conversion rate. Prior to its integration of Apple Pay, CMN Hospitals received donations from only 4 percent of those who reached its donation page. By reducing user input and increasing speed to checkout in both the website and the new Give Miracles app, the likelihood of donations to member hospitals increases.

Donating in apps and on websites accepting Apple Pay is as simple as the touch of a finger with Touch ID, so there’s no need to manually fill out lengthy account forms or repeatedly type in billing information.

“Anything that simplifies the donation process is a win for our patients,” said Rick Merrill, president and CEO, Cook Children’s Health Care System. “This new app, along with our ability to accept donations through Apple Pay, could revolutionize fundraising for our hospital and other Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the nation.”

A new app from the charity, Give Miracles, allows users to create and customize and manage a charitable campaign such as turning your Thanksgiving dinner or other event into a fundraiser, for a designated member children’s hospital. With a personal link you can send invites, engage with invitees and collect and track donations with Apple Pay all through an iOS device and without handling cash and checks. There is no limit to the number of fundraising events one can create.

“To those looking for easy ways to add a charitable component to an event or to generate support for children’s hospitals, the new Give Miracles app, combined with the ability to donate with Apple Pay, is a game changer,” said Jim Manis, founder of The Mobile Giving Foundation. “CMN Hospitals has created an app that makes mobile fundraising easy and personal. The clean look, simple set-up process and secure option to donate with Apple Pay on the web add to the appeal that sets this experience apart.”

Security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. When you use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code.

Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by credit and debit cards.  When making payments for goods, services and donations on the go in apps or Safari, Apple Pay works with iPhone 6 and later, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3 and later. You can also use Apple Pay in Safari on any Mac introduced in or after 2012 running macOS Sierra and confirm the payment with iPhone 6 or later or Apple Watch.
