Finn Cycle announced as Official Partner of Play Yellow, a program benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (May 17, 2021) – Play Yellow, a program benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals), announced today its newest official partner, Finn Cycle, a single-rider, electric golf cart from Finn Scooters. Finn Scooters is part of Sun Mountain Motor Sports, an affiliate of industry-leading golf bag, golf push cart and golf outerwear company, Sun Mountain Sports. The agreement positions Finn Cycle as one of the preferred on-course vehicles for Play Yellow events through 2021.

In addition, select golf club and course locations participating in this year’s Play Yellow Family Golf Day will feature Finn Cycles. Family Golf Day, launched in 2019, is an event planned by local golf courses and PGA Professionals that recruits golfers to fundraise for Play Yellow at their course, with the collective goal of raising over $1 million for CMN Hospitals across the country.

“We are excited to welcome Finn Cycle and Sun Mountain Motor Sports to the Play Yellow family.” stated Chad Phillips, Vice President of Play Yellow for CMN Hospitals. “Partnerships like this have been the cornerstone of everything we have done with Play Yellow since 2019. Through this partnership with Finn Cycle, we can continue expand our reach into the golf community and raise critical funds for our member hospitals.”

Finn Cycle is a two-wheeled, single-rider cycle with an electric motor and lithium battery that offers a comfortable and stable ride that leaves all who ride it smiling. Finn Cycles are currently part of the rental fleet at over 140 golf courses in 40 states across the country with more cycles shipping daily.

Finn travels at the same speed as a traditional golf cart, approximately 15 mph, and offers the opportunity to substantially speed up the pace of play by naturally encouraging ready golf with each player driving directly to their ball. Finn also offers a scan and ride smart phone app which allows for touchless check-out in the pro shop.

“Finn Cycle is so unique; golfers sometimes have initial objections based on their preconceived notions. Instead of debating these concerns, I just ask them to ride it. The experience speaks for itself, and objections are soon forgotten”, says Rick Reimers, founder of Sun Mountain Sports and Finn Cycle parent-company, Sun Mountain Motor Sports. “Sun Mountain has a 40-year history of bringing innovations to golf. Joining the Play Yellow team is exciting for Finn Cycle as both are fresh offerings with solid futures in golf.”

Launched in 2019 alongside Jack and Barbara Nicklaus and CMN Hospitals, Play Yellow strives to bring the entire golf world together and raise the critical funds needed by CMN Hospitals and the patients they serve. Like most nonprofits, children’s hospitals rely on donations. And because 37 million kids in the United States depend on public health insurance programs that don’t reimburse hospitals for the full cost of caring for these patients, the need for donations is even greater. Play Yellow brings golfers together for a good cause.

Play Yellow was inspired by a family friend of Jack and Barbara Nicklaus named Craig Smith who was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma as a young teenager. As Craig battled cancer, Jack and Barbara looked to support him and his family. One way in particular was for Jack to wear a shirt in Craig’s favorite color, yellow, which Craig said brought Jack luck from week to week. Over the years, Jack could be seen wearing yellow on tournament Sundays and major championship Sundays. Who can forget Sunday of the 1986 Masters Tournament when Jack wore a yellow shirt to honor Craig and went on to win his record sixth Green Jacket? Years later, Play Yellow was born.

CMN Hospitals has raised more than $7 billion in unrestricted funds for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada. Changing kids’ health through children’s hospitals isn’t just about helping those in critical situations — it’s also about the research, preventative care, health and safety education that help build healthier communities. By improving medical treatments, equipment and facilities, children’s hospitals can not only address the most challenging health issues of our day, but also prevent and prepare for those to come. When we change kids’ health, we change the future — for all of us.
